TPA: Tell us a few things about yourself.
Marius: My name is Marius Georgescu, I live in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Next January, I will be 57. I'm in a long-term relationship with a beautiful and smart woman, Sorina - 42 years old.
TPA: How did your relationship with Photography begin and how has it developed through the years?
Marius: My first encounter with Photography was 35 years ago, when an old friend and mentor taught me the basics of photographic art. After 5 years of self-study, I was admitted to the National Academy of Cinematography. Five years later, I graduated as a director of photography but I didn't get any assignment in the field of the film image since the Romanian Revolution , in1990. I was employed in the Romanian Public

Matt WeberMatt Weber shots his way through life.
Started out as a taxi driver and saw so many things on the streets that he kept saying "If only I had a camera…" A camera seemed like the only way to capture the crazy stuff which was happening almost every night.
Claims that the 70's were more interesting than the 80's, but in December 1984 bought a competitive camera, an AE-1 and a 50mm lens.
Started out in color film, but one year after he turned to b/w, because color was tricky to develop.
Thinks that failure is important, and that failing over 99% of the time and not giving up is something to be proud of. Takes "awful pictures on a daily basis and always will. There aren't too many other types of photography where that's the expected result."

Born in Germany, grew up in a pretty rural area and soon developed his inclination towards photography with a rangefinder camera that his grandmother gave him. Went to New York City in 2003 and found it very inspirational, capturing life around him with his camera strap wrapped securely around his wrist, framing the camera from the hip.
Doesn't stick around in one place for a very long time, likes to keep moving, uses use a Leica M9 and prefers the 28mm Elmarit.
If he his (one of) the most talented and promising street photographer presently? I don't know.

TSF: A "Posters In The Street" FeatureStreet Photography:
Posters! Posters!! Posters!!!
"Everyone in the business world knows the importance of
posters and ads in advertising for specific products.
Posters are an integral part of advertising. An eye-catching, attractive poster
that conveys a professional, compelling message about a product, service
or event will invariably hold the user's attention."**
That is until a Street Photographer comes along....
Posters, Billboards, Large Display Panels, etc. they're all around us!
Every street corner, building and display window in this ad-mad world of ours is adorned with these
wonderfully enticing, heavily photoshopped and grossly misleading sheets of prevarication.
Malls, museums, art galleries, subway, bus stations, airports, public toilets....
great places for (non pervy) Street Photographers to hang out on a slow day.
Now add posters into the mix and "BAM!" we have a great photo op on our hands!
If you're starting out in Street Photography, I'd say look

Saul Leiter - Vertical and AbstractAs you know, I normally don't do (features) Journals.
The exception goes to those photographers that had some historical importance in the photography World, those that influence(d) me, those that I believe can move others like they moved me, humanitarian photographers, and that normally live in the "shadow" of the same old Features and references.
This one is not the case, because I'm talking about Saul Leiter.
He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his father was a well known Talmud scholar and Saul studied to become a Rabbi. At age 23, he left theology school and moved to New York City to become an artist. He had developed an early interest in painting, like so many photographers. His mother gave him his first camera, a Detrola camera, when he was 12 years old.
He was soon taking black and white pictures with a 35 mm Leica, which he acquired by exchanging a few Eugene Smith (exceptional photographer from Life magazine, among others) prints for it. By 1948 he began to ex
