Hi everyone welcome to our Exceptional Photographers on Deviantart Feature.
This time we introduce to you Tunc Ozceber a.k.a :iconportraitofalife:
A professional photographer and videographer from U.S.A.

:bulletblue: TPA: Hi Tunc, How are you?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: Hi! I’m doing great nowadays. Hope you’re all doing great too!

:bulletblue:TPA: The People Avenue is very happy to have you here. Can you tell us something about yourself?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: I am very happy to be here too. My name is Tunc Ozceber and currently I live in Turkey. (I still miss my good ol’ days in Texas though).  I happen to be 26 years old now and I used to be a pro-drummer and a chef specialized in meat. I’m the director of photography of a productions company, and also a self-claimed street photographer. Currently I’m shooting two documentaries for a tv channel and working for a magazine as the responsible editor. But what I love to do is just to wander in streets and take photos of the ordinary life.

:bulletblue:TPA: There are lot of photographers would like to know you better, including me, Can you tell us when did you get interested in photography and how has it develop through the years?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: When I was a kid, I remember myself running around the house taking photos of everything with my dad’s old film camera. There were no film inside but I just loved the shutter sound. My interest of taking photos never faded and when I was 16, my dad gave me my first camera. It was too hard to get the correct exposure then, but I never gave up. After my college years dedicated to English Literature, I got the photography education and combined it with my passion and of course with my talent. Luck was on my side and I found a great job to fulfill my dreams.

:bulletblue:TPA: Is there any photographers influenced you?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: There sure are many photographer I am influenced and even tried to copy. My biggest influence is the legend Henri Cartier-Bresson, which gave me the passion of photography. But recently I’m reading anything that Chris Weeks wrote. He’s a street and paparrazi photographer, and I really like the attitude of his. One another name is Ara Güler, the legendary Turkish street photographer. He shoot the best photos of 70’s Istanbul, using only Leica glass.

:bulletblue:TPA: What equipment do you use?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: Even though I’m consider myself as a film photographer: due to professional reasons I’m using a Canon Eos 5d Mark II body with several prime and zoom lenses. My favorite one is Canon EF 35mm f:1.4 L  glass, since its just awesome on the street. Also I still keep my first camera on my backpack all the time. It’s a Zenit 122 with a 58mm lens. It still gives great images with 400 ASA black and white film rolls.

:bulletblue:TPA: What do you enjoy photographing most?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: I just love capturing street life. I travel a lot and my main focus Is on people. But on the other hand I also really like shooting fashion photos in which I can use my creativity with lights, models and all other stuff.

:bulletblue:TPA: What motivates you to continue taking photos?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: My main motivation is always myself. I challenge myself for capturing the perfect moment. It’s like a war to get the shot in the split of a second. And it means victory for me, if I get the shot I want.  One another thing is of course the ones (mostly clients) who view my photos. If I can see the satisfaction in their eyes, I tell this to myself. “You’re doing good at this, and you should go on.”

:bulletblue:TPA: How did you begun as professional photographer?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: I used to be a chef when I was living in Texas, but after the hurricane Ike, I had to come to Turkey to settle for a while until things get better back there. To earn my life I started to do freelance photography. I shot stocks and weddings for a while and then I found my recent job. And it’s awesome, traveling around the world and taking photos!

:bulletblue:TPA: For all of your photos taken, which one is the your most favorite or most meaningful to you? And why?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: My favorite shot so far is “Surrender to Snow”.

I was trying to get back home under a heavy snowfall, and then I saw this old man laying down under the snow. He looked like as if he gave up trying to stay alive, but the women behind passed him, ignoring. I saw the desperation in his eyes, and tried my best to give him another chance to go on.

:bulletblue:TPA: Ohh. So What you did after?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: After I took the shot, I tried to help in any ways that I can but he kindly refused it. Then I feel obliged to call the social services. Later that day I got a call from a shelter saying that he was given a warm bed for the winter.

:bulletblue:TPA: What a sad but amazing story Tunc.

:bulletblue:TPA: I saw from your photographs that you travel some places to take photos, Is there any place/country that you like to visit and take photographs? And is there any projects that you like to do?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: I always wanted to run a “stranger” project, I want to shoot “different” strange people with my own perspective but I never had the courage enough to stand in front of them and say that I want to shoot them. I hope I can do this soon. And my dream place for photography is Antarctica. I traveled many countries and experienced different cultures. But I really wonder how it feels like when I’m in the middle of nowhere and what I can shoot in the infinite whiteness.

:bulletblue: TPA: Thank you so much for sharing your time and for sitting with us here today.
Any final words for our readers?

:bulletgreen: Tunc: As a street photographer I have a word for those who are doing street photography. The best way to get great shots is using the wide lenses. Do not be a sniper losing long telephoto lenses, shooting people from far away. Just blend in, feel the atmosphere and nail the shot in the correct moment with a smile in the face.
